Abstract: The structures of natural polysulfides of animal and plant origin are considered. Data are presented on the biological activity of compounds containing di-, tri-, tetra- and pentasulfide groups. Schemes of total synthesis of the above-mentioned compounds and their structural analogues are discussed. The bibliography includes 156 references.
