Heterogeneous free-radical reactions in oxidation processes
M. Yu. Sinev, L. Ya. Margolis, V. N. Korchak N. N. Semenov Institute of Chemical Physics, Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow
Abstract:
The role of heterogeneous reactions of free radicals in oxidation processes of various types is analysed: homogeneous gas-phase, stabilised combustion, and heterogeneous-catalytic processes. It is shown that in all cases the observed kinetics and product compositions may be determined by the set of heterogeneous and homogeneous stages having the same nature, occurring in the systems simultaneously and as interdependent reactions. The possible mechanism of the heterogeneous formation of free radicals and of their subsequent reactions are discussed. The methods for the investigation of heterogeneous radical reactions are examined. The bibliography includes 198 references.
