Reduction methods in the synthesis of low-valence platinum and palladium complexes
N. Yu. Kozitsyna, I. I. Moiseev Kurnakov Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry, Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow
Abstract:
The use of the reduction reactions of platinum(II) and palladium(II) complexes for the synthesis of compounds of these metals in the lowest oxidation states (0≤n≤2) with stabilising π-acceptor type ligands, such as phosphines, phosphides, phenanthroline, and bipyridyl, is discussed. The mechanisms of these reactions as well as the behaviour of tertiary phosphine ligands under the conditions of the reactions between the complexes and reductants are examined. The available structural data on the mononuclear and polynuclear compounds of platinum and palladium in the lowest oxidation states are surveyed. The bibliography includes 138 references.
