Abstract: The methods of synthesis of refractory carbides, borides, nitrides, and oxides in the form of ultradisperse powders, consolidated materials, and films with a grain sizes less than 100 nm are examined. Information about the properties of nanocrystalline refractory compounds is described systematically and discussed. The bibliography includes 233 references.
