Abstract: Data on the geometry of free molecules containing a nitrogen atom have been reviewed. Most attention has been paid to compounds of amines with a nitrogen–metal bond, nitro-compounds, and complex compounds. The applicability of various ideas on the relationship between the electronic structure and geometry of molecules has been analysed.
The bibliography includes 193 references.
