Abstract: A review is given of the work on photostimulated crystal phosphors as materials of storage luminescent screens used in digital radiography. The properties of barium fluorohalides, particularly of BaFBr : Eu, important in these applications are considered. Much attention is given to the influence of conditions during preparation on these properties, to physicochemical relationships describing the processes of formation and interaction of crystal lattice defects, and to the current ideas on the mechanism of photostimulated luminescence. The bibliography includes 94 references.
