A. N. Nesmeyanov Institute of Organoelement Compounds of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow
Abstract: The numerous cyclopendant ligands are described in the review. These contain a cyclic fragment, with donor atoms, with groups added which are capable of coordinating cations. An attempt has been made to systematise the literature data on the methods of synthesis and the properties of cyclopendant ligands. Fundamental results of authors on the application of a quantitative method of assessing the efficiency and selectivity of action of ligands (criteria A and S) are given. It has been shown that the use of cyclopendant ligands enables the efficiency and selectivity of complex formation to be increased. The bibliography includes 182 references.
