Abstract: The structure of the sulfide bimetallic species (SBMS), which is the active component of hydrodesulphurisation catalysts, is examined. The main principles of the hydrogenolysis of thiophene on well-characterised sulfide catalysts have been analysed. A synchronous mechanism for the reaction of thiophene with hydrogen in the coordination sphere is considered and substantiated. The bibliography includes 143 references.
