Interference criteria for the focusing of light

Abstract:
A method is proposed for increasing the effectiveness of an adaptive system for the focusing of light beams traveling in an inhomogeneous nonlinear medium. A case of practical importance, when the target size is greater than a diffraction-limited light spot, is considered. The results of a numerical experiment demonstrate the effectiveness of the method.
