Theoretical analysis of laser coherence modulation with the aid of the Raman–Nath standing-wave acoustooptic effect

Yang Xing-yu, Feng Qi-yuan
Abstract: A theoretical analysis is made of phase modulation of the coherence by the standing-wave acoustooptic effect in the case of Raman–Nath scattering. Theoretical formulas for the mutual coherence function and the phase modulation factor are obtained. The cases of spatial and temporal coherence are discussed. The results are compared with laser coherence modulation by the Raman–Nath traveling-wave acoustooptic effect.
