Active media, pumping methods, and control radiation parameters

Resonant optical pumping of carbon monoxide by radiation from an electron-beam-controlled CO laser

V. M. Shmelev (Margulis), A. D. Margolin
Abstract: A calculation was performed and an analysis made of the kinetics of the vibrational processes accompanying the interaction of resonant radiation from an electron-beam-controlled CO laser with carbon monoxide. The results demonstrated feasibility of efficient optical pumping to high vibrational levels of the molecules. The absorption coefficient of the medium and the specific power of the optical pumping were calculated.
