Abstract:
The results are given of an experimental investigation of fluctuations in the intensity of a laser beam passing through a turbulent absorbing liquid medium (ethyl alcohol). On increasing the beam power, the intensity fluctuations were found to weaken. A qualitative explanation of this phenomenon is given. Conclusions following from calculations of weak intensity fluctuations, in which the temperature variation of the medium was described by a semi-empirical turbulent heat-conduction equation, were experimentally verified
