Stimulated Raman scattering of nanosecond pulses in a KGd(WO4)2 crystal
V. A. Berenberg, S. N. Karpukhin, I. V. Mochalov
Abstract:
The width of a spontaneous Raman scattering line, the Stokes shift of the scattered radiation, the gain, and the conversion efficiency were determined for single pulses of neodymium laser radiation undergoing stimulated Raman scattering in a KGd(WO4)2 crystal. The experimental results demonstrated that a high efficiency of stimulated Raman scattering was possible and that the wavelength of the converted radiation could be tuned by 134 cm–1 as a result of control of the polarization of the pump radiation and this could be done without affecting the conversion frequency.
