Suppression of thermal crisis in resonant interaction of high-power laser radiation with a gas stream

Abstract: An analysis is made of the phenomenon of thermal crisis in a supersonic stream of a chemically reacting gas mixture. Conditions are found under which the crisis situation cannot appear. It is shown that laser radiation can be used to control gasdynamic processes in such streams and, under certain conditions, to suppress a thermal crisis.
