Waveguide CO2 amplifier with a discharge tube of improved strength

Abstract:
A discharge tube was developed for a waveguide CO2 amplifier using a structure composed of a metal and a highly reflecting coating. The parameters of a continuously burning gas discharge were determined and the time dependence was found of the rate of pumping of an active medium in a rectangular (1×1 mm) waveguide of 50 mm length.
