Abstract:
Allowance is made for the two-dimensional nature of the flow in gasdynamic lasers. It is shown that inhomogeneities of the gas flow parameters deduced from the one-dimensional model may lead to a considerable (20–30%) inhomogeneity of the gain across the nozzle. The transverse distribution of the gain depends also on the kinetics of the vibrational processes in the gas and it is quite different for N2O and CO2 lasers.
