Interaction of laser radiation with matter

Influence of a large-scale grating on the formation of periodic surface structures

R. Ĭ. Petrushkyavichyus, Sh. A. Talandis, R.-M. V. Kanapenas, Yu. Ĭ. Reksnis
Abstract: An investigation was made of the influence of a large-period grating which appeared after diamond machining of aluminum on the formation of surface periodic structures and on the nature of the surface damage caused by laser radiation of the 1.06 µ wavelength. The observed "anomalous" structures were attributed to interference of surface magnetic waves under conditions of nonlinear formation of the surface relief.
