Abstract:
A new effective medium for pulsed solid-state lasers is single-crystal yttrium scandium gallium garnet activated with chromium and neodymium. Active elements made of this material were investigated in a pulsed solid-state laser with a tightly packed illumination enclosure. The efficiency was 7.8 and 2.1% respectively under free-running and Q-switched operating conditions.
