Fiber and other optical waveguides

Investigation of an integrated optical Mach–Zehnder interferometer with coupled waveguides

E. M. Zolotov, R. F. Tavlykaev
Abstract: An analysis is made of an integrated optical Mach–Zehnder modulator with coupled waveguides and calculations are reported of modulation characteristics as a function of the coupling and phase mismatch due to errors during the fabrication of the waveguides. An analysis is made of the methods and conditions for attaining the maximum depth of modulation.
