Possibility of using trifluoromethyl mercury chloride as an ingredient of a low-temperature active medium of an HgCl laser

A. A. Vlasenko, I. S. Lakoba
Abstract: Observations of a strong luminescence as a result of the B–X transition in HgCl molecules excited by an electric discharge of trifluoromethyl mercury chloride vapor and measurements of the temperature dependence of the vapor pressure provide evidence that this substance is a promising initial component of an active medium of an HgCl laser with a lower temperature threshold than of lasers based on mercury dichloride.
