Method for measuring optical inhomogeneities of laser media

G. A. Kirillov, V. A. Komarevskiĭ, S. B. Kormer, S. M. Kulikov, S. A. Sukharev
Abstract: A description is given of a method for measuring the optical inhomogeneity of an active medium at the lasing wavelength. This method is based on the determination of the phase front of the output radiation of a laser. Two variants of the proposed method are tested experimentally. The distributions of the refractive index found in this way are practically identical with the results obtained using other methods.
