Abstract: An investigation was made of an eight-pass amplifier based on titanium-doped sapphire, pumped by the second harmonic of a YAG laser and intended for terawatt femtosecond laser systems. The gain reached 2 × 107 for a pump energy density of 3.2 J cm–2.
