Use of laser heterodyne spectrometry in determining monochromatic atmospheric transmission

Abstract:
A prototype four-channel heterodyne spectrometer was developed, having a threshold sensitivity of 2x10–19 W/Hz in the λ = 9.586 μ region. The transmission through the full thickness of the earth's atmosphere was investigated along inclined paths with a spectral resolution of 0.002 cm–1.
