Abstract: A study was made of the spectral properties of a corrugated-waveguide structure containing a highly reflecting layer. It was found that an optical filter could be constructed from this structure. Generation of light was achieved experimentally in such a waveguide structure with an active buffer layer. Various distributed feedback mechanisms for this structure were analysed.
