Abstract: An investigation was made of a copper vapor laser excited by a transverse discharge. The energy of a stimulated emission (output) pulse and the specific output energy were determined as a function of the discharge current density, buffer gas pressure, and electrode temperature. A record energy per pulse, 10 mJ, was obtained for this class of laser.
