Abstract: Pulse-periodic operation of a molecular iodine laser (λ = 342 nm) was achieved using quartz flashlamps as the source of optical pumping. The pulse repetition frequency was 0.5 Hz, the output energy was 10–50 mJ per pulse, and the duration was 3–5 μsec at half-amplitude.
