Improvement of the characteristics of a waveguide grating polarizer

A. A. Spikhal'skiĭ
Abstract: An analysis is made of new applications of multilayer corrugated structures. Waveguide polarizers made of multilayer structures make it possible to suppress more effectively the diffraction of TM modes and at the same time enhance diffracted TE modes. A numerical analysis is reported of the influence of variation of the corrugation period, parameters of the waveguide structures, profiles of corrugation grooves, and the effect of resonant intermode coupling on the characteristics of a waveguide grating polarizer.
