Abstract: The absolute quantum efficiency of the luminescence emitted by gaseous xenon in the vacuum ultraviolet range was determined as a function of the concentration of the gas and the luminescence wavelength. The main channel for decay of Xe2* excimers after excitation right up to the ionization limit was radiative. The possibility of using xenon-based mixtures as active media was analyzed.
