Analytic theory of pulsed CO laser emission with line selection

Abstract:
An analytic theory of pulsed CO laser emission with line selection is developed and a comparison is made with the results of a rigorous numerical calculation. Formulas are obtained for the principal characteristics of an emission pulse: the maximum power, emission efficiency, delay time, and pulse duration. The process of growth of stimulated emission from the beginning of a pump pulse is also studied.
