Optimal operating regime for pulsed garnet lasers with a pulse repetition frequency around 1 kHz
G. A. Badal'yan, V. A. Berenberg, B. A. Ermakov
Abstract:
The lasing characteristics of pulse-periodic neodymium garnet lasers were investigated under cw-pulsed and pulsed pumping conditions. A determination was made of the factors which limit the range of pulse repetition frequencies in which pulsed pumping is optimal. It was found that pulsed pumping with xenon lamps is preferable to cw pumping performed by krypton arc lamps up to pulse repetition frequencies of 1.5–2 kHz.
