Abstract:
A description is given of a new automated laser fluorescence spectrometer. The fluorescence is excited using picosecond (YAG:Nd and dye) lasers at a high pulse repetition frequency (5 kHz). A recording system based on counting single photons is characterized by subnanosecond time resolution. Examples are reported of the use of this spectrometer in the study of the luminescence of biomolecules under one- and two-photon excitation conditions.
