Abstract: A method is suggested for estimating the relative efficiency of the fluorescence of vapors of complex organic compounds subjected to optical pumping. Measurements of the efficiency are reported for 25 organic molecules. It is shown that at vapor concentrations of 1016–1017 cm–3 the quantum efficiency of the fluorescence emitted by some compounds is close to unity.
