Useful volume of a recombination-pumped short-wavelength laser active medium formed from a cluster cloud

Abstract: An investigation is reported of a short-wavelength laser with recombination pumping of its active medium which is formed from a cloud of identical randomly distributed clusters. The maximum useful volume of the active medium is estimated to be 4.6%. It is assumed that the amplification occurs in isolated plasma balls formed from separate clusters.
