Characteristics of dispersion of high-power light pulses in fiber waveguides

Abstract:
An investigation was made of the transmission of high-power picosecond pulses along fiber waveguides. The change in the dispersion of the pulses with the power level was determined. This change was attributed to self-focusing and subsequent transformation of the radiation into a wide-band continuum.
