Forced locking of longitudinal modes in an electron-beam-pumped semiconductor laser

Abstract: Longitudinal modes emitted by a GaAs laser pumped longitudinally with an electron beam were locked by a nonlinear KDP crystal inside the resonator. Ultrashort laser pulses of duration below 20 psec and with a depth of modulation of 100% were generated in this way.
