Gas, liquid and plasma lasers

Is a SPER laser of the recombination type?

V. V. Apollonov, A. A. Sirotkin
Abstract: An experimental investigation was made of the role of plasma-chemical reactions in the formation of active media in lasers with a sectioned plasma source of metal vapors. Filling of the Cd II and Zn II ionic levels resulted from charge exchange with He+ ions and also in the course of Penning ionization. These processes were more effective than recombination and electron impact.
