Background signal in an optoacoustic detector
C. Hartung, R. Jurgeit
Abstract:
The background signal in optoacoustic detectors is due to the scattered radiation and absorption in the surface layers of detector windows as well as in the interior of the detector. This signal represents a disturbance which can limit seriously the detector sensitivity. Calculations are made of the factors contributing to the background signal and suggestions are put forward on ways of reducing this signal.
