Control of the time profile of a light pulse during transient self-diffraction

Abstract:
Transient self-diffraction of a self-intersecting light beam was used to demonstrate experimentally that the control of the time profile was possible: this method was capable of compressing a pulse and transforming a dome-shaped pulse into a rectangular one.
