Abstract: Theoretical and experimental investigations are reported of the potential applications of quasi-cw partially coherent radiation in optical systems based on diffraction–interference principles. It is shown that the spectral characteristics of quasi-cw radiation influence the data-handling capabilities of a holographic correlator and of a partially coherent holographic system for data acquisition. Relevant experimental results are reported.
