Optimization of a gasdynamic laser resonator

D. G. Bakanov, A. I. Odintsov, A. I. Fedoseev, V. F. Sharkov
Abstract: An analysis is made of the vibrational energy exchange kinetics in a stream in a gasdynamic CO2 laser when a radiation field is present. The analysis is made using a theoretical model which allows for the finite rate of vibrational energy transfer, vibrational relaxation, and also population of the lower active level. Data on the active medium saturation are given together with calculation formulas and graphs which can be used to determine the optimal parameters of a gasdynamic laser resonator. The experimental results satisfactorily confirm the theoretical calculations.
