Effect of thermal nonlinearity on the spatial coherence of a laser beam in a randomly inhomogeneous medium

Abstract: An analysis is made of the combined effects of random inhomogeneities of the medium and thermal nonlinearity on the spatial coherence of an optical beam. It is shown that a thermal defocusing lens increases the spatial coherence radius of the field.
