Abstract:
It is shown that steady-state cooling of semiconductors is possible as a result of absorption of laser radiation. The dependence of the temperature established in this way on the intensity of laser radiation is determined. An estimate is obtained of the minimum temperature which can be reached by this method. Competing processes, preventing such cooling, are considered.
