Laser media and control of laser radiation parameters

Maximum utilization of inversion in neodymium lasers used in amplification of nanosecond pulses

V. V. Ivanov, Yu. V. Senatsky, G. V. Sklizkov
Abstract: A numerical model allowing for the complete Stark structure of a laser transition resulting in the emission at λ ≈ 1.06 μm in silicate and phosphate neodymium glasses demonstrated that it should be possible to utilize 70–85% of the energy stored in the active medium and this medium is used to amplify nanosecond pulses under saturation conditions.
