Chirping of ultrashort light pulses by coherent interaction in samples with an inhomogeneously broadened line

V. Petrov, W. Rudolph, B. Wilhelmi
Abstract: An investigation is made of chirping as a result of a coherent interaction of an ultrashort light pulse with a near-resonant absorbing medium. The effect of inhomogeneous dephasing is taken into account and shown to have a strong effect, which depends on the area under and on duration of the pulse.
