Characteristics of soft x-ray emission from a plasma formed by moderate-intensity laser irradiation of a target

Abstract: Results are presented of investigations of the characteristics of the soft x-ray emission from a plasma formed using lasers having parameters similar to those available commercially. An investigation was made of the dependences of the soft x-ray emission characteristics on the laser power, atomic number of the target, target configuration, diameter of the laser radiation focusing spot on the target, and laser radiation wavelength. A method of measuring the electron temperature of a laser plasma is proposed.
