Experimental investigation of thermal self-interaction of electron-beam-controlled CO2 laser radiation in a master-oscillator–amplifier system

Abstract:
An investigation was made of the spatial characteristics of the radiation from an electron-beam-controlled CO2 laser of considerable effective resonator length. A study of optical inhomogeneities in a CO2 amplifier was made using a method in which the active medium was probed coaxially with a beam. Scattering of the radiation by regular volume phase gratings in the amplifier was also recorded.
