Abstract: A description is given of planar optical waveguides formed in photochromic glass by the method of ion exchange in AgNO3–NaNO3, KNO3, and Li2SO4–Na2SO4–ZnSO4 melts. Reversible photoinduced changes in the intensity of the guided light were observed. Waveguides of this kind should be suitable for integrated optics systems.
