Two-stage fiber-optic schemes for dispersion and soliton compression of ultrashort light pulses

Abstract:
A numerical investigation is reported of two-stage fiber-optic schemes for dispersion and soliton compression of ultrashort pulses. The schemes are designed to achieve the maximum degree of compression. The mechanisms limiting the duration of the pulses in these schemes are identified and the optimal compression parameters are calculated.
