Heat hardening of steel by pulse-periodic laser radiation

Yu. K. Danileiko, A. M. Prokhorov, A. I. Pchelintsev, A. V. Sidorin
Abstract: An analysis of the thermal cycle is presented and an experimental investigation of the hardening of low-carbon steel by pulse-periodic laser radiation is described. The process of the dissolution of carbon is cyclically cumulative and it ultimately leads to an increase in-the fraction of the martensite in the irradiated region.
