Hybrid reactor based on laser-induced thermonuclear fusion

Abstract:
The physical features of a hybrid high-power device are considered. Thermonuclear neutrons are produced in a microtarget irradiated by a laser and they are then used to irradiate a shell of natural uranium. The requirements which the basic component parts of such a device must satisfy are analyzed and the results are given of numerical calculations of the target processes and neutron interactions in the shell, taking into account the change in its composition when it is irradiated.
